ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is a technology which allows phone calls
and Internet to be used on the same physical phone line at the same time. With ADSL
your computer is permanently connected to the Internet and allows you to still make
and receive calls.
All you require to get connected is:
- check that your exchange is ADSL enabled (this also depends on line quality);
- get an ADSL line installed; Let iSAT do the installation for you. You can contact us on 086 123 4728 or support@isat.co.za.
- a router/modem: this can be bought at any computer vendor (call iSAT for reliable referrals).
Monthly costs are broken into 3 separate fees:
- telephone line rental;
- ADSL line rental: this is paid to iSAT and is dependent on which speed package you choose;
- Internet connection: which is paid to iSAT and is dependant on which Cap package you choose.
Shaped/Unshaped services:
- Shaped services prioritize different protocols. The top priority is HTTP, which is the protocol used when browsing Web sites.
- Unshaped access may be advantageous for specialized applications such as Forex trading, specialised gaming, Virtual Private Networks, etc.
Offering the best of both worlds, you are able to use
Shaped ADSL for general internet use and email during the day, while
optimising your online gaming experience at night and on the weekends.
This package is ideal for home users, people who work from home,
or people who share their same connection at work and at home.
Shaped/Unshaped times are as follows:
Weekdays & public holidays:
- (Shaped) 7am - 5pm
- (Unshaped) 5pm - 7am
Weekends:
- (Unshaped) Friday 5pm - Monday 7am
